Pleasant Valley High School unveiled a new security system Monday, including a new fence around campus and color coded badges.
Pleasant Valley Principal John Shepherd says the goal of the new system is to keep students and staff as safe as possible. "In order to do that we needed to secure some of the portals on to campus" Shepherd said.
In addition to the new fence, students will have color coded badges. The color coded badge system will allow school faculty to easily police which students can and cannot leave campus during the school day.
At PV, freshman are required to stay on campus for the entire day, but older students are allowed to leave for lunch.
Students expressed mixed emotions about the new changes Monday, sophomore Gorgi Mada believes it is a good thing, but she expects some students will feel restricted by the fence.
