A children's museum in downtown Chico is expected to open sometime next year.

The concept was released at the Thursday night market this week. The museum would be located on Main Street, and would be a hands-on educational exhibit for kids.

The capital campaign to raise money for the interior construction of the museum was launched Thursday night. Museum officials say they are confident the museum will be a place the city of chico embraces.

Dana Leslie, the group's founder and president said "in order for it to be something really magical, where the community adopts it immediately and not forget about it, we have to put in a lot of time, effort and money. It's a big project, but together we can make it happen and I know everyone is really passionate alongside of me."

Design plans are in development and will be ready for public showing in the next few months. Anyone wanting to make a donation can head to
