Placer deputy pleads guilty to sex with a minor

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (AP) - A Placer County sheriff's deputy has pleaded guilty to one felony count of unlawful sex with a minor.

The Placer County District Attorney's Office says Kenneth Skogen reached a plea agreement with prosecutors Wednesday.

Under the agreement, Skogen will be placed on three years formal probation and must serve 150 days in jail and attend counseling.

He will be eligible to apply for alternative sentencing. Skogen won't be allowed to be with minors without a parent or guardian present.

A seven year-veteran, Skogen was arrested in July after being accused of having a sexual relationship in 2011 with a 17-year-old girl who was a volunteer at the time with the Placer County Sheriff's Office.

His formal sentencing in scheduled for Jan. 7 in Placer County Superior Court.
