PG&E has stated in a press release today Pit River Road in Shasta County at the Pit 4 Reservoir will be closed from August 26-30 and again September 9-30 while they improve the road along the reservoir. They road will not reopen at night or on weekends.
However, they will reopen the road by 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 30 for the week of Labor Day and will close again Monday, September 9. PG&E will be improving the road so excessive water runoff during unusually heavy rains can cross the surface of the road without eroding it.
Those traveling westbound on Pit River Road will be able to go as far as the Pit 4 Reservoir and motorists traveling east from Big Bend by way of Hagen Flat Road to Pit River Road will be able to travel up to the Pit 4 Reservoir.
PG&E has stated they will post signs of the road closure at the Pit 5 Dam and at Five Corners near the Pit 3 Dam.
All road closure dates and locations are subject to change, but we will update you if any of those dates change on our website and Facebook page.
