Students in Chico wore pink shirts to school today to show support for standing up to bullying.
This is the third year that schools like Emma Wilson Elementary have scheduled activities in a unified effort, to prevent bullying ... by creating a positive learning environment.
School officials say this is an opportunity to make sure every student feels valued.
Geri Dean, with Chico Unified, said, "The kids they don't want to come to school because they do not feel valued and are being bullied. This is a way to make them feel valued treating them with empathy."
"Pink Shirt Day" was established in Canada in 2007, when two high school boys purchased and handed out many pink tank tops ... after learning that a new student at their school was harassed for wearing a pink shirt.
