Photos of the devastation in Weed are everywhere, earlier today Cal Fire officials said that 110 homes were destroyed in the blaze, another 90 damaged.
Two churches, a community center and a library also have been destroyed since the fire started on Monday.A donation center has been set up at the First Southern Baptist Church in Yreka and the Hope Community Church in Mt. Shasta. They are asking for large boxes, plastic bins and reusable shopping bags.
In Redding, a food drive is being held at the First United Methodist Church at 1825 East Street and The Shasta Regional Community Foundation has set up a disaster relief fund, the fund will provide direct financial assistance to families, nonprofits and organizations impacted by the fire.
Cleanrite Buildrite has also set up a drop off center at their Redding office, 19690 N. Hirsch Ct. in Anderson.
A Facebook page called Siskiyou County Fire Donations has been set up, people interested in donating should monitor the page for donation opportunities.
In Chico, donations can be dropped off at Anika Burke at 211 Main St., or Alternative Energy Systems at 13620 Highway 99. Donations will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. Friday.
People are asked to contribute warm and cold weather clothes for adults and children, hygiene products (soap, shampoo, tampons) and infant and toddler products (diapers, wipes, bottles, formula).
