If you live on the ridge near paradise and hear some loud explosions today that's because PG&E is blasting a few large boulders that fell into the upper Miocene Canal.
The rocks slid into the canal during recent rainstorms and PG&E says breaking up the rocks with explosives is the most effective way to remove them.

The public is being asked to stay back from barriers along trails in the west branch feather river canyon.
The blasting sounds are scheduled to last from the late morning to the afternoon.
