PG&E moving forward with tree removal

Despite the efforts of protesters, PG&E crews are beginning to cut down a group of Sycamore trees outside the Oroville Cemetery.

PG&E officials say the proximity of the trees and the roots to an underground pipeline poses a safety hazard.

California's largest utility company wants to avoid a repeat of the 2010 San Bruno gas pipeline explosion that left 8 people dead. Officials say have considered moving the pipeline in Oroville, but they say the removal of the trees is the safest option.

The company has announced a new landscape proposal for the community that will be completely funded by PG&E.
