PG&E driver arrested in company vehicle on suspicion of DUI

A Pacific Gas & Electric driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in his work truck after getting into a minor car accident Highway 99 in south Chico Friday morning.

No injuries were reported in the accident, which occurred around 6:45 a.m. at the southbound 20th street off-ramp.

According to the California Highway Patrol, they arrested Jerry Gilbert, 53, of Chico on suspicion of DUI after he rear-ended a silver Volkswagon.

PG&E spokesman Paul Moreno confirmed Jerry Gilbert's employment with Action News Now via telephone and issued the following statement:

"We have learned a PG&E employee was involved in an accident this morning in Chico while driving a company vehicle. We understand the individual was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. At this time our company's security is working with the CHP to investigate the incident. We expect all of our employees to follow the law. We will take swift action in dealing with this matter."
