Pets & Jets to benefit Animal Rescue Group

"Pets & Jets" is a "hangar party" planned for Saturday, September 19th at the Chico Air Museum, to benefit the North Valley Animal Disaster Group.

NVADG volunteers spring into action during disasters like wildfires and floods, to rescue pets and livestock. They mainly work in the north state, but also offer aid regionally, elsewhere in the country and even internationally. And they work to educate pet owners about the importance of planning ahead and having an evacuation plan for themselves, and for their animals.

One of the founders, retired Chico Firefighter John Maretti, says it's been a busy summer with trips to help in the Nepal earthquake, a visit to New Orleans to mark the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, as well as working the Swedes fire, the Lake County fires and on Thursday ... the Olive fire near Palermo.

Funding is needed to help with equipment and training and that's where"Pets & Jets" comes in. The event will include a barbeque dinner, silent auction and dancing to live music provided by "Richard Moore & The Wild things". It takes place from 5:30 - 11:p.m. on September 19th, at the Chico Air Museum at 165 Ryan Avenue, at the Chico Airport.

Tickets are $40 per person or $280 for a table of eight. Tickets are available at the Chico Hospital for Cats and in Paradise, at HeavenScent Candles and Colyer Veterinary Service. You can also find them online at the NVADG website, at
