Pedestrian struck by train in Redding

A Redding woman was rushed to the hospital Tuesday morning after she was struck by a train.

The woman was struck around 10 a.m. near Breslauer Way off of South Market Street. Initial reports say the train conductor called the incident in after the woman was hit.

The woman was found unresponsive and rushed to an area hospital, her condition is unknown at this time.

The train was stopped for just under an hour and departed after investigators collected evidence from the scene.

An investigation is being conducted by Union Pacific officials.
