Pedestrian killed by suspected DUI driver identified

The 18-year-old woman struck and killed by a suspected DUI driver in Red Bluff Tuesday morning has been identified as Shae Smith.

Smith and 20-year-old Travis Burke were standing on Antelope Boulevard near the Valero gas station in Red Bluff when a 1993 Honda Accord traveling eastbound swerved off the road, onto the curb and hit them. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene and Burke was transported to St. Elizabeth's hospital with a leg injury.

The driver, 36-year-old Red Bluff resident, Elizabeth Lang was arrested and booked into the Tehama County Jail for driving under the influence, vehicular manslaughter, and driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and transportation of a controlled substance.
