A pedestrian has been hit and killed by a car in Redding.

It happened around 8:20 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Market Street and Lake Boulevard.

Police say 63-year-old Norma Earl-Horton was driving a white 2007 Volkswagen Beetle north on Market Street when she entered the intersection on a green light.

That's when a pedestrian walked into the intersection against a red light and was struck by Earl-Horton.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and the identity of that person is being withheld until family is notified.

Authorities say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, but they are still looking into the exact cause of the crash.
