SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Hundreds of travelers have landed safely in San Francisco after what they say was an infuriating 12-hour wait on the tarmac for takeoff.

Etihad Airlines Flight 183 finally landed Saturday night in San Francisco after a grueling 28-hour flight from the United Arab Emirates.

Passengers tell San Francisco broadcaster KGO that the Middle East airline kept them waiting on the tarmac in Abu Dhabi without food or flight information. One passenger says travelers were arguing with each other and with the flight crew.

Etihad Airlines in a statement says fog in Abu Dhabi delayed flights and caused airport congestion. Airline officials did not immediately respond to a request after-hours for comment on conditions onboard.
