Former Tehama County Sheriff Clay Parker, who was recently hired as Police Chief of the Paskenta Tribe has resigned.
In a statement this afternoon, Parker saids he sees little hope in a peaceful resolution, so he's decided to resign while the tribal factions fight it out.
The Paskenta Band has been in turmoil ever since one faction voted to disenroll more than 60 members in April amidst claims of theft and mismanagement, which have yet to be proven in any court.
Parker was hired by the disenrolled group, but said he was working for all sides toward a peaceful resolution when he took the job last month.
