Ophir Elementary School parents are on high alert after a parent told administrators a man tried to lure his 11-year-old daughter into his vehicle.
The incident happened around 3 p.m. Monday near a bus stop at Canyon Drive and Almond Avenue.
A parent told authorities a black man in a black two door vehicle with a blue stripe on the quarter panel approached his 11-year-old daughter.
The man tried to lure the girl into his car, but thankfully she ran straight to safety.
Sheriff’s deputies searched the surrounding area, but never found the vehicle or person.
School administrators informed parents of the incident via letter Tuesday. They are asking that all parents speak with their children about how to handle situations if approached by a stranger.
Anyone with information on the incident should call the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
