Paradise police say a teenager is facing charges after she allegedly posted a graphic photo accompanied with a threatening message on Facebook and Instagram Thursday night.

Paradise police say they were inundated with 911 calls around 10 p.m. Thursday, callers were reporting a post on Facebook and Instagram showing a naked female who appeared to be bound and gagged. The photo was captioned with a message that warned women about the dangers of being on the Memorial Trail after dark. The message also warned that things would get worse if anyone contacted law enforcement.

Officers immediately responded to the Memorial Trail, but received a call a few minutes later from Caitlin Olivia. Olivia told officers she had been abducted and then sexually assaulted.

Officers interviewed Olivia and after giving inconsistent statements she ultimately admitted the entire incident was a hoax intended on garnering attention and sympathy from a 16-year-old juvenile she had been arguing with.

The Investigations findings have been forwarded to the Butte County District Attorney's Office. The Paradise Police Department would like to thank the community members who reported the photo.
