Paradise police shot and killed a dog at Achieve Charter School Wednesday morning after it ran onto campus and attacked a man on campus.

Officers were called to the school around 11 a.m. after several people reported that two aggressive pit bulls were loose on campus, and one had bit the pant leg of a school worker. School officials say the man was not injured in the incident.

The school was locked down for around 45 minutes while police tracked the dogs.

When the dogs were found, they allegedly charged officers, who tried to stop them by using pepper spray. The pepper spray turned out to be ineffective and officers were forced to shoot and kill one of the dogs, a 60 pound female pit bull.

Officers were able to capture the second dog. Police say the dogs had no tags on and they're trying to track the owners.
