Paradise police, school officials on high alert

Authorities in Paradise are on high alert after a man reportedly tried to kidnap a nine-year-old while she was walking home from school Wednesday.

Police increased patrols near town schools and released an updated suspect description Thursday. The suspect police say, is about a six feet tall, in his late 30's to 40's, with a medium build and dark hair. The suspect also reportedly has an eyebrow piercing and was last seen driving a dark colored sedan.

Paradise Elementary School officials notified parents of the incident through an automated phone call Wednesday night.

Police say the attempted kidnapping happened around 2 p.m. Wednesday on Pearson Road, between Scottwood Road and College Hill Road. The nine-year-old girl was reportedly pulled into the suspects' vehicle, but managed to escape out the back door when the vehicle came to a stop in front of Paradise Screen Print.

The Paradise Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact them immediately.
