An organization in paradise wants to rename the paradise memorial trail way to honor a famous resident.

The Gold Nugget Museum and the paradise chamber of commerce want to rename the trail way to Yellowstone Kelly heritage trail in honor of Yellowstone Kelly.

He was friends with President Teddy Roosevelt and served in the American Civil as well as the in the Philippine-American war.

"He was brought into the community after all of his accomplishments, and decided to settle into paradise and retire here with his wife, but he has national prominence and to have a celebrity within the paradise community is a good thing," Mark Thorp said.

The next step is to take it to the town council for voting, and they hope to see the change in six months to a year.

In the mean time they will continue giving educational presentations to the community about Yellowstone Kelly.
