Paradise, Calif – The Paradise community is coming together to give teachers and students the tools to succeed in school.

A Paradise mother has put together a drive to collect school supplies for elementary school classrooms.

“My kids are in elementary school and when I work in their classrooms, I see the need,” Christina Souther tells Action News Now. “Teachers give so much, they’re not just teaching, they’re counseling these kids, sometimes parenting these kids.”

The goal is to provide nearly 75 elementary teachers in the Paradise Unified School District with bags of supplies.

Souther says they are collecting donations including: pencils, crayons, colored pencils, markers, glue sticks, glue, erasers, boxes of kleenex and hand sanitizer.

There are drop-off locations around Paradise at: Les Schwab Tire Center, Tri Counties Bank, Pile It High, La Comida, The Butte County Library and the public pool.

Donations will be accepted until Wednesday, August 12th as PUSD resumes school Thursday, August 13th.
