Paradise loses "thousands of gallons" during water main break

Paradise officials are still working to identify the exact amount of water lost during a water main break Wednesday, but say it was “thousands of gallons.”

According to the Paradise Irrigation District, an old steel pipe broke on Wednesday. The break caused water to spill onto Pearson Road, forcing a closure and causing extensive damage.

Water crews were able to turn the water off an hour after the break was reported, but say it appears the pipe had been leaking for quite some time.

The road was reopened early Thursday morning.
