The Paradise Irrigation District, which provides water to about 10,000 customers, is hoping a recent state order on water use doesn't last through the fall.
The Paradise Irrigation District (PID) recently learned that it and other water districts throughout California, essentially cannot store most of the runoff it gets through what is known as post 1914 water rights.
Right now, it's not a big deal for the irrigation district since the rainy season is over, but if the order were to last through next winter, it would mean drastic water cutbacks for customers, a PID official said Wednesday.
In the meantime, the district's legal team is working to get a clearer picture from the state as to when the order will end.
