Some Paradise homeowners found themselves face to face with a burglar Tuesday night when they came home to find a man packaging thousands of dollars in jewelry and prescription drugs inside their house.

Paradise police were called to the 1800 block of El Toro Court regarding a residential burglary at 4:18 p.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived they arrested 22-year-old Matthew Pacheo for breaking into the house.

The homeowners told police they found Pacheo inside a bedroom when they arrived home and were able keep him inside until officers arrived.

Pacheo had already packaged around $3,000 worth of jewelry, prescription medication and other valuables when the homeowners busted him.

Pacheo was also found to be in possession of some items stolen from Chico and has been booked into the Butte County Jail for residential burglary and possession of stolen property.
