A Paradise woman is held at knife point in her home last night, and the suspect is still on the run. The 47-year-old woman was in her home last night when a man opened her front door, armed with a knife and demanded not cash, but her prescription medication.
It happened shortly after 9 p.m. at her home on Clark Road. The man entered the home through her unlocked front screen door. The woman then ran out of the house and flagged down a driver on Clark Road, who called 911. Paradise police searched the home and surrounding area, but were unable to locate the suspect.
Police say the crime was unusual, proving the suspect may have been desperate. Sergeant Craig Gallagher says, "They are probably abusing medication. with that being said.. they find themselves in a position where they have to do things like this to try and get the medication to deal with their addiction."
The intruder is described as a 20-year-old man, about 6'4'', with a lean build and dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a beanie and a dark bandana around his face. Police say he ran toward Wagstaff Road with the woman's white purse in his hands. Anyone with information is asked to call the Paradise Police Department at 872-6241.
