The League of Women Voters is inviting the public to a panel discussion “What is Common in the Common Core Curriculum?” It’s happening at their Potluck & Program on Thursday, January 23 at the Chico First Baptist Church, 850 Palmetto Ave.
Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite dish to share, and hear from a local panel of experts who will describe implementation plans for the new nationwide Common Core State Standards Initiative, which has been adopted by 45 of 50 states including California.
Guest speakers will include administrator Michael Morris, Director of Assessment for Chico Unified School District, and teacher John Klein, chair of the English Department at Chico High School. The aim of the discussion is to gain a better understanding of what the Common Core roll-out may mean to families, educators and employers in the future.
