SAN DIEGO (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says San Diego Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of marijuana.

The CHP says Cabrera, who is on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, was arrested early Wednesday after its dispatch center was notified of a possible DUI driver by the U.S. Border Patrol at a checkpoint east of San Diego. The CHP says Cabrera was determined to be under the influence of marijuana.

Cabrera was suspended for the final 50 games of the 2013 season for being linked with the Biogenesis of America scandal.

The Padres say they are aware of Cabrera's arrest and are in communication with Major League Baseball.
