INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Pacers star Paul George will play Sunday against Miami just eight months after he broke his right leg while playing for Team USA in an exhibition game in Las Vegas.
The team announced his return on Saturday. George says he is excited, but also is aware he is "still in a rehab stage and will continue to work to get back to full strength."
The two-time All-Star was expected to sit out the entire 2014-15 seasons after running into a basketball stanchion Aug. 1 and snapping his right leg in two places.
Within hours, George had surgery and most figured he would not play until next fall.
But as his activity increased in February, president of basketball operations Larry Bird said he wanted George to play this season - if he could. George even targeted mid-March for a possible return.
