Chico fire investigators are working to determine what sparked a brush fire in lower Bidwell Park near One Mile early Friday morning.
The fire broke out a little after midnight, was knocked down, but then rekindled several hours later.
At this time it is unknown if the fire is human caused, but the area is known as spot frequented by transients.
The area where the fire broke out has recntly seen a major crackdown by Chico Police on illegal transient camps. Since mid-August officers have arrested at least three people and issued numerous camping violations.
Officials say the goal of the crackdowns is to prevent the possibily of fires like the one seen Friday morning, as well as cut recent spikes in bike thefts, drug sales and pollution.
