(UPDATE) 5:28 p.m.- A damaged fiber optic line is still leaving thousands of North State residents and businesses without Charter services this evening. A Charter representative told Action News Now road crews working in the Sacramento area hit one of Charter’s underground cables while doing bridge construction. Charter still does not have an estimated time when the damage would be fixed.
(UPDATE) 12:11 p.m.- A Charter Representative from Louisville, Ky., has confirmed the outage for Charter customer’s spans from Anderson in California all the way to the Oregon Border and may possibly include some customers in southern Oregon. Officials are still investigating the cause of the outage and do not have an estimated time when service will be restored.
A sales representative with Charter Communications in Redding has confirmed an issue in a fiber optic line has knocked out service to its customers in the greater Redding area.
The outage was first reported around 10 a.m. this morning
The full extent of the outage is unknown at this time.
