An elderly woman was hospitalized Friday afternoon after two pit bulls attacked her outside an Oroville home.

The woman was walking back home, from the community mailboxes, on Sunnybrook Lane in Oroville, when her next-door neighbors' pit bulls ran out and attacked her.

The woman was taken to a local hospital, her condition is unknown at this point.

The victim's grandson told Action News Now that the woman, who already suffers from heart problems, had two puncture wounds to her arm, but she is expected to be okay.

The victim's grandson also said the pit bulls are usually chained up, but had been left outside of the house today.

Butte County Animal control took the dogs to a shelter where they are being quarantined.
