It's shaping up to be an unforgettable 4th of July Independence Day Celebration in Oroville this year.
City Councilman Dave Pittman with the Oroville Rotary Club says the fireworks show over Lake Oroville with be bigger than ever thanks to Destination America, PG&E and local efforts. And as a winner of the Destination America "Red, White and You" contest, a big party is planned at the Upper Overlook Parking Lot.
The party runs from 4-9 p.m. with free hot dogs and ribs, "Dilly Bars", a bounce house, T ball, face painting, and coloring and bubble booths ... in addition to plenty of bottled water. The fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 at the Dam.
The road to the Dam closes at 4 p.m. Party goers are encouraged to carpool, but there is limited parking so riding shuttle busses is recommended. 10 free shuttles will depart from Downtown Oroville at 5:00, 6:00 and 7:00 p.m.
Three boat launches are open on the lake if you want to watch the show from the water ... Lime Saddle, the Spillway and Bidwell Marina.
