The Oroville Police Department has been awarded nearly $50,000 to battle alcohol related crime, Police Chief Bill Lagrone announced Thursday.

The $47,660 grant is from the California Alcoholic Beverage Control, and will be used to reduce alcohol sales to minors and sales to intoxicated customers.

"This is important to the City of Oroville in order to increase protection for youth and to shut down problem locations that have contributed to an increase in crime," Chief Lagrone said.
