A fire at Sierra Del Oro preschool in Oroville shut the school down indefinitely last May, and with the new school year approaching officials say the school is still not ready to reopen.
A May 27 fire severely damaged the school's attic, roof and air conditioner. The damage was estimated to be roughly $300,000-$400,000, and the school district is working closely with architects and builders to get the school reopened as soon as possible.
The 40 preschool students with disabilities will have to begin the 2014-2015 school year at Wyandotte Elementary School. School officials say the all the staff and students will have their own classrooms at Wyandotte and everything is being done to accommodate the needs of each student.
It may not be until after January when the Sierra Del Oro campus will reopen.
