Three Chico residents have been arrested for their role in an alleged drive-by shooting near the Oro Villa Apartment complex in Oroville Wednesday morning.

According to police, several people reported hearing gun shots around 6:15 a.m. Witnesses told police they saw a gold Chevy sedan fleeing the area after firing shots at another vehicle. An officer in the area saw the vehicle on Myers Street moments later and was able to make contact with the suspects.

A search of the car led to officers recovering a loaded gun that matched the casings found at the scene.

Police were able to make contact with the vehicle after it was fired at. No injuries were reported, but the car had at least six bullet holes in it.

Police arrested Chico residents Jason Jackson, 18, Lorraine Sampson, 24, and Sammy Anderson, 29. All three suspects have been charged with carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, shooting at an inhabited vehicle and discharge of a firearm at another person.

Investigators say they have not found a motive behind the shooting, and have not determined if it was gang related.
