A man is behind bars in Butte County after a police pursuit ended with the suspect crashing into a home.

Oroville Police say they got reports of a possible drunken driver shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Raley’s on Meyer’s Avenue.

Officers located 51 year old Donald Chatham of Paradise driving a small Dodge pick-up truck.

According to police on scene, after they spoke with him, he then sped away despite being shot with a Taser.

Chatham lost control of his truck a few blocks away on Mitchell Street, careening into a power pole and hitting a Toyota SUV which had five people inside.

The suspect ended up crashing into a home on the corner of Gray and Mitchell streets across from the Pacific Coast Producers cannery.

Two people were home at the time but were not injured.

Officers tasered the man once again and took him into custody.

Two people in the Toyota SUV were taken to a local hospital, one with minor injuries, the other with moderate.

The suspect was booked on felony drunken driving and evading police.
