Oroville police arrest armed robbery suspect

One of two men accused of stealing a teenagers bike at knifepoint has been arrested by the Oroville Police Department.

Officers arrested Patrick “Josiah” Ballez, 18, on Sunday, after they received several tips linking him to an armed robbery that occurred in the parking lot of Jerry’s Market on Oro Quincy Highway Friday afternoon.

The alleged robbery happened around 4 p.m., when a white man and a Hispanic man pulled a knife on a teen and took his bicycle, necklace, and cell phone.

The teen said the Hispanic male had a large “N” tattooed on his right cheek.

Using the description, police were able to identify one of the alleged robbers as Ballez, and took him into custody at a home on Feather Avenue in Oroville.

The second alleged robber remains at large and anyone with information is asked to contact the Oroville Police Department at 530-538-2448.
