A man left paralyzed in a police shooting last July pled not guilty to all charges Wednesday.
Jeremy Hunter, 37, pushed himself in the courtroom in a wheelchair. This is Hunter’s first appearance in court after taking several months to recooperate, his attorney said.
At the hearing, both defendant and district attorney agreed to set the preliminary hearing date for early February.
Authorities allege hunter fired a handgun at an Oroville police officer after a traffic stop back in July of 2015. The officer returned fire into the vehicle, striking hunter five times leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.
Hunter is facing several charges, including assault with a firearm on a police officer.
