A man who, for 20 years, has collected Native American artifacts along the shores of Lake Oroville is going to jail. John Palomba, 64, was sentenced to 30 days in jail plus probation Wednesday after previously pleading no-contest to removing archeological objects and possession of stolen property.

Palomba had been arrested in November of 2014, found by a state parks ranger with pockets bulging with collected arrowheads, tools and ornamental items. It was later discovered Palomba had more than 2000 objects he'd collected through the years.

Through his lawyer, Palomba apologized to members of the Estom Yumeka Maidu and Concow Maidu tribes who were present for the sentencing.
