A man accused of trying to kidnap two young children from their front yard in Oroville has been arrested by the Butte County Sheriff's Office.
Jeffrey Michael Lane, 32, of Oroville was booked into the Butte County Jail Tuesday on two attempted kidnapping charges and a probation violation.
Lane is accused of staking out and then attempting to abduct a 10-year-old and 11-year-old in front of an Oroville home on Shasta Avenue Sunday. According to the sheriff's office, the children's mother thwarted the kidnapping attempt when she approached Lane. After being confronted by the mother, Lane sped off in his van.
Armed with a description of Lane and information about his van, deputies were able to track down and arrest him Tuesday.
Anyone with information relevant to the case is asked to call Butte County Sheriff's Detective Jason Miller at (530) 538-7671.
