The Cooperating Christian Churches of Oroville (CCCO) have organized the Sixth Oroville Hunger Walk, scheduled for Saturday, March 21st, starting at Riverbend Park.
100% of donations from sponsors and participants will go to organizations providing hunger relief for Oroville, including Feed the People Ministries, Oroville Rescue Mission, Oroville Salvation Army and The Hope Center.
Sign ups for the Hunger Walk begin at 8:30 a.m. and coffee and donuts will be served. The 2 mile walk begins at 9:00 a.m. There will be rest stations at churches along the way and vans will cruise the route for those who are unable to finish. Participants are encouraged to walk only as far as they are comfortable, whether it's 2 blocks or 2 miles.
"For those who are Christians this is a great way to put your faith into action," said Rev. Stan Henderson of Trinity Presbyterian Church. "But whatever you believe, this is an opportunity for people to come together and make a positive difference."
CCCO churches include Church of the Nazarene, First Congregational Church, First United Methodist Church, GracePoint Church, Jordan Crossing Ministries, Oroville Rescue Mission, Raven Ministries, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, The Hope Center, The Salvation Army, Trinity Bible Church, and Trinity Presbyterian Church.
