Butte County authorities are continuing their investigation into a south Oroville homicide, and the family of Angela Murray is asking for the public’s help in finding out why she was dumped in a field.

Family and friends of Murray gathered at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Oroville Wednesday to pay their last respects.

Her mother Kathy Cooksey described her daughter as a giving person. She said Murray was homeless and living in a tent across from the Robertson’s Market in Oroville and that she did suffer from mental illness.

Cooksey says she had been looking for Murray for about two weeks when she found about the death.

Murray has two children who are living with their aunt.

The Butte County sheriff’s office says the body was discovered Saturday afternoon near the 600 block of Dunstone Drive in Oroville.

Investigators say the body had more than likely been moved there after Murray was killed elsewhere.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Butte County Sheriff’s Office at 530-538-7671.
