A quick response by the Oroville Fire Department saved a duplex, and a family dog. The fire started shortly before 11 Tuesday morning at a duplex on Acacia Avenue.
Firefighters were nearby and knocked down the flames within three minutes. They quickly did a search of the home, no residents were found, but they did find an unconscious dog inside the bedroom. Firefighters quickly took the dog outside and administered oxygen. Within five minutes, the dog came to, and was taken to a nearby vet.
The damage to the duplex is estimated at 30-thousand dollars. They are still investigating the cause, but they believe it may have started due to a heating device inside the home.
