Butte County fire crews were able to keep fast moving flames from reaching several Oroville homes Wednesday afternoon.

The fire broke out at 3:23 p.m. in the area of West Way and 18th Street and charred a total of two acres.

Butte County Cal Fire officials say the fire quickly burned through dry grass, brush, and old olive trees before firefighters were able to stop it from reaching a set of adjacent houses.

Several fences near the homes were burned, but no structures were damaged and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
