Authorities on Friday identified the man who died Thursday in a head-on collision on Highway 162 in Oroville.
California Highway Patrol officials say 81-year-old Paul Beltrams was driving his white Toyota Tacoma eastbound on Highway 162 when the truck suddenly veered into westbound traffic, colliding with a Toyota Venza.
Beltrams was pronounced dead at the scene, the cause of death is unknown at this time, but CHP officers on scene speculated he may have suffered a heart attack before the collision.
Also injured in the crash were the driver of the Toyota Venza Jerry Waugh, 66, and his wife Jeannie Waugh, 65. The passenger in the Toyota Tacoma, Bertha Bertrams, 84, was also injured.
The crash happened at 1:50 p.m. on Thursday afternoon and caused Highway 162 to be shut down for nearly two hours.
