Authorities have identified the Oroville woman who died hours after she was pulled from the Feather River, in the Oroville Wildlife area by Butte County rescue crews last Tuesday.

Christy Chodrick, 33, of Oroville died last Tuesday night at Oroville Hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol. Tuesday evening her fiancé called police saying she possibly committed suicide by drowning. Butte County crews found her face down at the bottom of the river, and say they found this odd because drowning victims are typically found face up or sideways.

The California Highway Patrol Oroville office launched a death investigation, which is ongoing. An autopsy has been performed, but investigators are awaiting toxicology results.
