Oroville City Administrator Randy Murphy was terminated by the City Council on Tuesday night, he is the sixth person to hold the position in five years.

The council voted 5-2 during a closed door session to terminate Murphy, who says the decision was made without cause. City officials have yet to comment on why they fired Murphy.

Murphy, who has worked as City Administrator for the past 19 months, told Action News Now he was happy to serve the people of Oroville and wishes he could have been in the position longer.

Oroville Public Safety Director Bill LaGrone, Community Development Services Director Don Rust and Finance Director Ruth Wright will take over Murphy's duties on an interim basis.

Action News Now Reporter Joe Moeller will have a full report tonight at 5 and 6.
