Oroville attempted kidnapping suspect arraigned, bail increased

The man accused of attempting to kidnap an Oroville teen on her way to school made his first court appearance today. Jesse Horton, 32, was arraigned in Butte County Superior Court on attempted kidnapping charges Friday afternoon, with his attorney Grady Davis present, but Horton did not enter a plea.

Horton is accused of grabbing the teen by her arm at a bus stop on Bird Street Tuesday morning then driving off in a blue Honda. Horton claims to have an alibi, that he was at the Father's House School of Ministry.

Horton was previously arrested on child molestation charges and convicted of statutory rape and also corporal punishment to a child. in Butte County. He also has one strike of first degree burglary.

Horton will be back in court for further arraignment May 18.
