Today residents of the Highlands of Oroville apartments had just a short window of time to gather what's left of their personal belongings.

Five units were severely damaged in a fire that broke out yesterday afternoon. Crews from Oroville fire dept, Cal Fire Butte County and El Medeo were able to stop the blaze from spreading to more units.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation however they have determined that the fire started in an upstairs unit.
The Red Cross spent the night providing aid to the families. They have placed them in hotels while they get added to low income housing lists.

The Red Cross provides food and shelter for families who have been displaced. To donate you can go to the American Red Cross Website.
