A former Orland High School softball player is going pro, as Heather Oakley has signed to play for a team in Spain. Oakley will be playing for the Orioko Bate Bizkorrak, located in Orioko, a town in the Basque part of the country. She'll head to Europe in March.

While she's never been to Spain, this won't be an entirely new experience for Oakley. Last summer she got a chance to play for the Basque team when they traveled to the Canadian Open. Clearly Orioko liked what they saw, as they offered her a contract for this season. She'll play mainly at 3rd base, though she does have the tools to be used elsewhere as well.

After her incredibly successful high school career at Orland, Oakley would go on to play at the D1 level in college, finishing her career last year at the University of Delaware. However this next step up, into professional territory, is one she's always had her eye on.
